Our Founder started Chat N Chew (CNC) in 2017. The name may have come out of a planned brunch, but the passion and mission came from her own personal experience with homelessness, single parenting, and domestic abuse.
Since then, CNC has been hard at work helping single parents rebuild their lives after leaving a domestic violence situation. We offer a food Pantry and a Restore Closet to help with basic necessities. In addition, we also assist in locating suitable housing, therapy and counseling.
We serve food-insecure communities as well in the DFW area. We've successfully attained this goal through our partnership with local businesses, Texas Food Bank, and individual donors.
We are a 100% volunteer-run organization and most of our volunteers are single parents.
Our future plans include owning a transitional home.
We don't just 'CHAT' during our quarterly brunches...we do a lot of chewing too! We meet to provide updates, listen to praise reports, and plan our fundraisers, and future events. If you'd like to be included in our future brunches, send us an email and let us know! We'd love to have you!
"Bridges" was a weekend food program that bridges the gap for local elementary school kids to get through the weekend when school resources are not available. The children's choice bag was delivered to the school every Friday with a sufficient amount of food, snacks, and beverage to last through the weekend. However, because of COVID, this program has been put on hold.
"Chat N Chew Pantry"
CNC is committed to serving our community. For this reason, we opened a "Chat N Chew Pantry" for those needing extra assistance with food. We are open on second Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Families are encouraged to visit once per month.
If you are experiencing an emergency and need our assistance beyond these hours, SEND US AN EMAIL for an appointment.
Our Restore Closet distributes clean, gently-loved clothing, household items, baby items, and shoes for single parents starting over. We are open on an as-needed basis. Please email us for an appointment
Chat N Chew helps families in need with Thanksgiving dinner. This event takes place from November 1st through the 17th. If you or someone you know is needing help over the Thanksgiving Holiday, please contact us.
In honor of our late Pastor Ricky Texada of Covenant Church, we are keeping the theme "Dropping Dimes" for our annual Angel Tree event. He was a true example of someone who loved his community and we want to continue his legacy by showing the love of God to the families who otherwise may not have the means to buy their children Christmas gifts. We know that Christmas isn't about presents, but as far as the children, it's ALL about the gifts! This begins every year from September thru November. If you want to be "Santa" to a child in need, please CONTACT US.
Christmas "Give" Wrapping
We wrap all the gifts we receive from our "Dropping Dimes" event. Our volunteers "chat" and "chew" while having fun wrapping. This event takes place on the first Saturday in December!
Our biggest event is distributing the gifts and having fun with the families from the communities we serve. During this event, families also go through our Pantry and Restore Closet for their needs. A great way to connect with the community!
